This month’s Sagittarian full moon is an incendiary truth bomb; the kind that reveals in stark and often shocking terms the true terrain we inhabit. This year it is again a lunar eclipse, visible in an arc that runs through South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand, much of North America and South America too. The first in a pretty pair that will conclude with the Gemini new moon solar eclipse in two weeks’ time, this first Sagg eclipse on the south node is an emotional cannonball that will blast anything that is not truly authentic.
The Archer draws back her bow to release a flaming arrow aimed directly at the greatest truths in our life. The bedrock upon which we build our world cannot hold if it is cracked, flimsy or false. The full moon in Sagg illuminates the whole of those truths, especially their inconvenient caveats, before she is eclipsed at her peak when the earth moves between moon and sun plunging her into a red shadow. All the better to peer into yours.
In Sagittarius full disclosure is a minimum. Fake news is only ever a ruse that fosters disinformation to move you off your spot. Telling it like it is could blow everything up or could equally clear the path forward. Eclipses are unpredictable and their impact can feel wildly unsettling. This lunation is ruled by Jupiter now in Pisces and squaring the eclipse show. We must be wary of letting sentimentality, nostalgia or wilful delusion cloud new knowledge, adventurous ambitions or the whole truth.
South node eclipses show us what we are more than ready to move beyond. If it restricts your expansion or expression, halts your personal revolution or hamstrings your growth, it has got to go. A longer pattern is playing out and waiting for you to see its true profile. The story so far of this eclipse series was seeded in early June 2020 and spotlighted again in mid-December that year at the Sagg new moon eclipse. Look to the events unfolding in your own life then to hear what it whispers to you now. We are only just approaching the half way point of this tale yet to be completed. Change your course now to shift inevitable destination. Ask for more.
Eclipse season is both reckoning and release from the open door cages we unwittingly find ourselves in. Every six months when the sun and moon meet to cast shadows we are extended a liberating invitation and a tantalising escape hatch. To slipstream fresh currents that will carry us beyond the present by effecting change in our lives. Eclipses always deliver opportunities for evolution but they equally wield the power to remove anything that stands in its way. You can still follow the path of the archer’s arrow, even if tears are wet on your face or anger twists a knife in your belly or you feel manifestly unready for what comes next. This kind of astrology favours the fearless, the bold and the brazenly courageous.
Wednesday’s supermoon eclipse is bookended by Saturn’s recent retrograde and Mercury’s fabled version of the rx species, arriving this weekend in its wake. Both beggar revision to reset boundaries, expand understanding and revisit past and current projects alike. All in service of the future chapters of this eclipse series. The cosmos is messing with our best paid plans by design. On a mutable playing field, adaptability is a superpower as we flow from fixed to a flexibility that may push us further than ever before. All the better to shoot us towards a braver new world than we can yet imagine.
Do not underestimate the power of a graceful exit or a well-chosen ending. Use this potent portal to dispense with the mess, clear the decks and make space for all that you are waiting to arrive. Reorient direction and authentic focus under the blazing gaze of this eclipse. Be true to yourself above all else.
