Studio Spotlight: Insight Body & Mind

Insight Body and Mind is a multidisciplinary practice situated in South Melbourne and Aberfeldie, aiming to nurture meaningful body-mind connections. Designed by award-winning designers, their studio has been thoughtfully planned, providing dedicated spaces where the body and mind can find nourishment in one place.

We speak with the founder, Dr Elizabeth Terziovski about her studio and the services she offers which nurture the mind and body with an emphasis on positive experiences.

Tell us about your studio, what was the inspiration behind it?

I have been a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist and operated my private practice for 15 years. In my profession, I recognise that a healthy mind and body takes a holistic approach and I encourage my clients to incorporate movement in their daily living. This inspired me to create a well-being space where people can nurture their mind-body connection.

I became a Pilates Instructor in 2019 and then started the journey to creating this holistic space and allowing others to experience the importance of movement for their physical and mental health.

What can people hope to find in the space you've created?

I am proud to offer a unique blend of mindfulness and movement education alongside psychological care. Biasol has meticulously designed the interiors and branding of our practice, with a keen focus on delivering a seamless, sensory experience for our clients and our design has won multiple awards for the design.

Our consulting rooms are conveniently located on the ground floor, while our movement studios, featuring Reformer Pilates, barre, and yoga, are found on the second and third levels. The interior design and colour scheme, along with the overall ambience, create a tranquil and serene atmosphere, inviting individuals to leave their worries behind and immerse themselves in a calming and aesthetically pleasing environment. Clients frequently remark on the "spa-like feel," which facilitates a seamless transition into a state of peace.

What is unique/ different about your studio?

At Insight we have a multidisciplinary approach to wellness and therefore are a hub that combines mindful movement, psychology services and natural medicine – essentially, it’s a one-stop shop for all your health-related needs. It provides a personalised and holistic approach to wellness, intending to nurture the mind-body connection.

What does practising movement mean to you?

After having my first child 14 years ago, Pilates allowed my muscles to safely recover and build my strength, flexibility and balance. Since then, I’ve never looked back! For me, Pilates is the one form of movement where I get to experience that deep mind-body connection.

What do you love about the community you've created?

I get to be in the studio every day and continue to practice Pilates daily. The happiness I feel when I see people deepening their practice and improving their confidence is exactly what inspired me to do this in the first place. I love the excitement and energy people bring, I love seeing people’s self-esteem and confidence grow as well as seeing people thrive. We all get such a buzz from seeing people invest in themselves, whether it’s their mind or their body and the whole team at Insight are our clients’ cheer squad!

How do you empower individuals to live the life they deserve?

Empowering individuals to live the life they deserve involves fostering self-awareness, equipping them with practical skills and tools, creating a supportive environment, setting clear and achievable goals, building resilience, and encouraging autonomy. By helping individuals understand themselves better, providing them with the necessary resources and support, and guiding them in setting and pursuing meaningful goals, we enable them to overcome challenges, bounce back from setbacks, and take ownership of their lives. This holistic approach, which addresses their physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being, empowers individuals to realise their full potential and lead fulfilling lives aligned with their values and aspirations.
