Support your wellness and ease your stress while working from home with these tried and tested tips from The Beauty Chef

The Beauty Chef, was founded in Sydney, Australia by the very talented Carla Oates who has created the most incredible range of organic living skincare made with a natural fermentation process. With the ethos that beauty comes from within, she shares THE UPSIDE’s belief that in order to look your best, you must feel your best.

GET STRESS-SAVVY

Working from home might eliminate the hassle of commuting, but stress remains an inevitable part of working life. Regardless of whether you’re presenting in the boardroom or plugging away at something in your bedroom, it pays to have some tried-and-tested methods of stress reduction that you can call on in a flash. This might mean…

Gently asking your family, flatmates or partner to respect your time and space, especially when you’ve got tight deadlines to meet or video calls to attend.

Popping a few drops of lavender oil in a diffuser or inhaling straight from the bottle when you’re under the pump. Lavender has been shown to exhibit positive effects on general anxiety, making it the perfect desk buddy.

Setting yourself up with an app like Asana, Trello or Slack to enable you to plan and prioritise your work flow.

DO AN EXPRESS DANCE SESSION (YES, REALLY!)

Studies show that even 60 minutes of standing helps to increase energy levels and improve mood, so wherever possible, avoid sitting for long periods of time (be that on the couch, in your home office or on your bed). While you may have said a temporary goodbye to your in-office standing desk, there’s nothing stopping you from creating a DIY one to keep your posture on point. Go one step further and embrace your solitude with a quick stretch, some star jumps or even an express dance session!

BE ENERGY SMART

The dreaded 3pm energy slump is all too real for the majority of desk workers. Rather than heading to the kitchen for another coffee, reach for WELL SPRAY. Our probiotic, oral spray contains Biotin, a complex B vitamin that is important for nutrient metabolism and energy production. Plus, the inclusion of peppermint oil, as well as other herbal extracts, will help wake you up from any computer-induced drowsiness. 12 sprays (4 sprays, 3 times a day under the tongue) is all you need.

DON’T FORGO YOUR LUNCH BREAK

When you WFH, it’s easier than ever to tap away on your laptop sans distraction, human interaction and office procrastination (another tea, anyone?). For this reason, it’s important to be respectful of your limits and abide by set breaks. While it might seem like a good idea at the time, skipping your lunch break (or inhaling a sandwich in front of your screen) isn’t conducive to productivity, clarity or efficiency.

Carla Oates created The Beauty Chef in 2009 after healing her families skin issues and discovering that beautiful glowy skin begins with a healthy gut.
