International Womens Day
This 8th March we celebrate International Women’s Day – a day that champions the feminine mystique and marks the pursuit of equality. In 1911 one million women took to the streets of Europe to call for equal rights in their professional, social, political and cultural lives. Since that fateful day, we have come so far, and yet, there is still a long way to go. At THE UPSIDE, we have so much love for our brothers, fathers, sons, friends and peers, but, there is something simply magic about sisterhood. We might not always feel ‘enough’, we might not always get the recognition we deserve or the respect we have earned and yet we keep pushing for a fairer world for the fairer sex. It is the tenacity of women who came before us and the kinship of women we know and love today that gives us this strength.
As a female-led company, THE UPSIDE has always sought to embolden our customers through wellness so they can feel their best and most beautiful. In the words of our founder, Jodhi Meares,

In the spirit of community, THE UPSIDE crew marked International Women’s Day with a morning of mindfulness at our head offices. Led by the lovely Sophia Tilly, THE UPSIDE staff enjoyed a moving meditation that made space for the team to pause and reflect. After some light stretches and a lengthy shavasana, the crew engaged in an honest and open conversation about what it means to be a woman in the world today…
Across the Atlantic, our American peers embraced the women’s movement with a little more, well, movement. In partnership with Bluestone Lane Cafe, THE UPSIDE will host a Run in New York and Venice, Los Angeles. With the option to run, jog or walk the initiative raises funds for ‘Girls On The Run’ a non-profit organisation that seeks to empower adolescent girls through exercise-based curriculums. Mirroring our own philosophy here at THE UPSIDE, ‘Girls On The Run’ underscores the important connection between physical and emotional wellbeing.
